Executive Director

JOB DESCRIPTION

LOCATION: Fully remote (no physical office space)

SCHEDULE: This is a part-time salaried position (30 hrs per week) with some evening or weekend work.

OVERVIEW: The Executive Director (ED) manages the day-to-day operation of the organization, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, and works closely with the Board.  The ED supervises the part-time Program Coordinator.

In addition, the ED has responsibility for leadership, development, and oversight of the Neighbors Driving Neighbors Program.  

SALARY: $35-$40K

REQUIREMENTS

A. Program
• Manage onboarding of new drivers including:
-conducting training sessions for new drivers, background and reference checks.
-registering new riders which includes a home visit with another staff or board member to explain the program, get signatures of agreement, and ensure that the home is easily accessible and safe for our volunteers.
-Maintaining strict confidentiality and good relationships with riders, volunteer drivers, and community partners.

• Share ride coordination duties with the Program Coordinator as needed.

• Maintain best practices to attract, vet, train, and retain compassionate volunteer drivers. In conjunction with the Board, provide recognition for volunteers.

• Oversee transportation record keeping and preparation of periodic reports to Board of Directors.

B. Public
Collaborate and network with others in the community. Provide public presentations to share the NDN experience with other organizations and communities as needed.

• Maintain relevant professional affiliations and memberships in local, state, and regional organizations. 

• In conjunction with Outreach Committee, design publications including brochures, posters and the annual report; write and distribute press releases and other marketing materials.

C. Finance
Monitor income and expenses in coordination with the Program Coordinator and Board Treasurer.

• Assist Board Treasurer in preparing monthly reports and the annual budget.

• Research and write grants, recruiting collaborators from the board.

• Make purchases for the organization.

• Assist the board with fundraising activities including the acquisition of new donors, corporate support, and special events.

• Oversee the management of donors through Little Green Light.

D. Board 
• Work with the Board President to prepare regular board meeting agenda.

• Attend all board meetings and some board committee meetings and actively participate in discussions. 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Successful experience in administration, financial management, budgeting, program development, and/or public affairs.

• Grant writing experience is a plus.

• Ability to use electronic scheduling, Google based email, document creation, electronic document sharing, and document archiving.  Must be able to use word-processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.

• Experience or willingness to learn Little Green Light, Assisted Rides, and QuickBooks.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience working with a volunteer Board of Directors is a plus.

• Must be able to work from home and travel regularly to/from within the six communities served by NDN.

• Must have compassion and empathy for individuals needing services; patience with those with impairments or difficult personalities.
