Need
Help with Rides?

NEIGHBORS DRIVING NEIGHBORS provides free and confidential rides for residents of Belgrade, Fayette, Manchester, Mt. Vernon, Readfield, Rome and Vienna who are not able to drive.

You must be registered with us to request rides.

To register, please contact us. It’s easy, free and confidential.

(While we are unlike a taxi service—as we ask for 5 days’ notice for ride requests—we do try to accommodate whenever possible.)

We can take you to medical appointments, the grocery store, pharmacy, hair salon, social events, or to other errands. Some ride with us regularly, others only occasionally, some are young, some are older. Can’t leave the house? We also provide grocery and pharmacy pick-up and delivery.

I was very appreciative of Steve, knowing he’s there if I need him. I feel he’s a friend.
— NDN Rider Jayne Varney on her friend and NDN volunteer driver, Steve Symonds.

To register as a rider, please call 207-860-0677 or email neighborsdrivingneighbors

To what destinations can I ride? We provide transportation to any destination within a 35-mile radius of where you live.

How do I become an NDN rider? Call NDN at 207-860-0677 and say you want to sign up as a rider or send an email to neighborsdrivingneighbors@gmail.com. Will I be the only passenger in the car? Generally, yes. We do allow friends and family to accompany you to appointments when needed.

Do I have to be vaccinated and boosted from COVID 19? No, but it is encouraged.

Do I have to be vaccinated for the Flu? No, but it is encouraged.

ALL RIDES ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY of our Volunteer DRIVERS. We do our best to help all Riders get to where they need to go.

Masking Policy

1. Masks

Masking is optional for both Riders & Drivers

2. Vaccination

If a rider has NOT received any COVID vaccinations, they will be required to wear a mask. (This  is assuming there is a driver willing to provide the ride. We have a pool of drivers who have indicated a willingness to drive anyone regardless of their COVID vaccination status.).

3. Precaution

When drivers make their pre-ride confirmation calls the day before their scheduled ride, they should ask about any COVID contacts the rider might have had and any symptoms of respiratory infection.  If present, masks should be worn.
